Without culture, and the relative freedom it implies, society, even when perfect, is but a jungle.
This is why any authentic creation is a gift to the future.
Albert Camus

Mission

The mission of The Roy Cockrum Foundation is to award grants to support world-class performing arts projects in not-for-profit professional theaters throughout the United States of America.

Grants

The Roy Cockrum Foundation enables theaters to reach beyond their normal scope of activities and undertake ambitious and creative productions.

For Grant Seekers

The Roy Cockrum Foundation accepts applications by invitation only. Applicants must be professional, non-profit resident theaters in the United States. We provide funding for project support only.

Grant seekers may submit a letter of inquiry and introduction by submitting an online Letter of Inquiry form. Please include a short description of the project for which you are seeking funding. Please know that in most cases the Foundation initiates grants on its own and rarely invites application from unsolicited inquiries.

Letters of inquiry are reviewed on a weekly basis and we will contact you after consideration of your submission.

The Roy Cockrum Foundation does not consider grants for:

  • Individuals
  • General Operating Support
  • Capital Campaigns
  • Endowments
  • Special Fundraising Events or Tables for Special Events
  • Political or Lobbying Organizations
  • Multi-Year Support

Notification

There is no guarantee that applications submitted will receive a grant. Foundation grants are made on a one-time basis with no promise of future funding.

Applicants will be contacted by the Executive Director after receipt of the complete application. Collaborative planning and discussions between the Foundation and the applicant generally precede all awards and is an integral part of our grantmaking.
